Megan is a voice coach, actor, and writer based in London, England. Born in sunny California, Megan was exposed to new and exciting voices from a young age, moving across state and country lines until she ended up in South Carolina before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue Acting at the University of Minnesota’s Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program. Megan moved to London in the Fall of 2020 after spending 9 years in Minneapolis making art and trying not to freeze to death.
Megan is passionate about making authentic accent work accessible for all performers. She is inspired by the work of practitioners such as Frankie Armstrong and Roy Hart, whose work opens the creative potential of the voice. In her work, Megan is curious about the friction between societal expectation, and identity in the pursuit of a voice that feels honest and empowered. She seeks to reconnect people to their bodies and voices in ways that benefit performance as well as the human spirit. She also believes that every voice user has a right to a voice they love, and deserves to be heard. Megan is a recent recipient of the Global Talent, Exceptional Promise Visa, a visa for emerging leaders in a variety of fields. Megan's endorsement came from the Arts Council England.
Megan is a certified Vocal Combat Technique trainer and coach. This is a groundbreaking technique for teaching extreme sounds to actors, voiceover artists, and voice users. This approach is designed to make extreme sounds repeatable and to tell the story of combat or distress. These sounds include; fight sounds, growls, screams, vomiting, choking, monster noises, and everything inbetween. It is particularly relevant for videogame voiceover artists, and actors who have to scream or fight onstage. For more information please see: www.vocalcombat.com .
